These works were created over the course of a couple of months, in a number of places, and in little bits of time. I drew inspiration from moments of transition, emotion, and the transferring of energy within my everyday life. The process for my work is a series of layering. Working from the bottom up, I first lay out the composition in pencil and begin burning the lines onto the paper. This process is slow and meditative. It allows my mind to settle and reflect. I then build up the next layer playing with color and balance, hand-dying fabric from natural materials - some of which are foraged from my local environment. I then create the last layer of the drawing, poking holes in the paper where I anticipate the rattan to lay, and secure each length with a piece of wire twisted on the backside.
