The imagery in my paintings are often referenced from my personal life – whether that be directly lived, observed, or imagined. To be honest, I’d consider a good percentage of it to be “imagined”. But, I don’t really find “lived” vs “imagined” to be mutually exclusive. Does “imagined” not encompass how we perceive our lived experiences with all of our beliefs, biases, innocence, and ignorances? In my paintings, I find authenticity in our interpretation – or the meanings that we make – from our lives.
