This body of work is Inspired by the seed sovereignty efforts around the globe. From international stories of Indigenous communities' actions to save their cultural heritage to informal hyper-local seed guilds, I am brought to a humble space of deep respect for the seemingly simple technology of the seed and the plentiful acts of mutual aid. I attempted to trace the plant life cycle by simplifying my mark-making, gradually adding more and more elements for increasingly more complex compositions. Joining panels with sewing echoes the energy of community connection central to seed-sharing endeavors. My hope is to trace the arc of the season, from seed to harvest with natural earth-derived dyes and materials, further adding to my ongoing celebration and conversation of where land and body merge.
