Time has always been a continued exploration in my work, the most literal examples presented as visual motifs like a clock on the wall or a particular position of the sun. Recently, however, I’ve grown particularly interested in the granular – the moment to moment – where single smaller-than-life actions become momentous or dramatic. While there exists a relatively clear before and after that a viewer can anticipate, the paintings aim to draw out the ephemeral nature of the moment, suspending it in a perpetual state of “happening”.
