I see my work as a way of 'writing structure' as both a mapping out and a description of the language of ideas, as a physical act of shaping and seeing order in the world. I first came to work in a grid-based style after becoming interested in instructional guides for knitting. I was fascinated by the way that knitting patterns provided a coded plan for how to make and shape something physical. I am interested in the systems, or language, of how forms (and even ideas or intentions) can come together and how they can be pulled apart or remade into something new. I am also interested in the way that patterns infinitely repeat, can be reduced or enlarged, and can have both micro and macro existences.
