Initially I was just seduced by the beauty of the ocean or a river, but the more time I spent painting my thoughts and experiences with water, the more I became interested in waters ability to change the things it touches into something different and often more beautiful and pristine than before. The washing away of difficult times, the cleansing, the power and even our reliance on water as a force of life is an idea that consistently comes up when I am making my work.
About the Artist
Aliza Cohen translates her interest in visual, philosophical, and conceptual contrast into sprawling abstract paintings that reflect the nuances of her environment.
