In this painting, I chose to depict a transgression occurring in a verdant space. The subject in the foreground is seen as a trespasser, a shabby, somewhat ethereal-seeming knight wearing a veil. Another knight then confronts them with an apparent halo, and a gauntlet missing from their left hand, holding a hot pink sword to their throat. Above them both is a gigantic moth embedded and hidden away in the trees - some of its webbing already taking hold. I wanted to play with the dynamic of seeming to have the upper hand while a deeper force or power has already established itself and usurped autonomy.
