Disremembering J.C. Fontanive

$3,825 (framed)

J.C.’s vitreous enamel works are created by fusing powdered glass to a copper and stainless steel plate in a high-temperature kiln. Held together in delicate, puzzle-like formations, the organization of shapes echo moments in life where choices settle into patterns, forming systems that are both intentional and unresolved.

Recently I’ve been interested in the idea of organization. The shapes in these works have been sorted, set in order, and aligned. While laying flat on the table, I arrange all the elements - each piece infuencing the others by physics - which puts them all in a closely related system. These systems are a way of interpreting and representing my ideas of organization in a visual manner.
