In this series of paintings, I wanted to explore the idea of movement and direction with the use of line and color. Since a line or group of lines is an essential visual form and because of its minimal nature, it lends itself to interpretation in myriad ways. The relationship of multiple lines together can connote the wakes of ships in the water, the velocity of pedestrians in a city, fireworks ascending into the sky, or the migration of birds. In each instance, there is an inherent openness and freedom associated with the lines, in their content, essence, and interpretation.
