For my 'Winter Solstice' series I wanted to create complex, woven structures with more hand-sewn details that create pieces that are light and hopeful. The smallest piece (I) is the most dense, but this opens up with the larger sizes of II and III in anticipation of the coming spring.
About the Artist
Nicole Anastas creates topographic paintings that are often pulled apart and reassembled, leaving areas that are frayed, gritty, and scarred but also smooth, ornate, and beautiful.
