This series of gestural paintings was created en plein air while Elisa was exploring the lakes and rivers of the American West in the van that she, her husband, and her dog occupied for three months.

The abundance of color and textural inspiration found in nature during the summer is overwhelming and exciting. I have been particularly inspired by the wildflowers that are covering all of the West right now. I have been taking in the changing shades of purples, yellows, and reds that sprinkle the mountain sides and used that to create the very busy and somewhat chaotic painting to reflect not just the colors, but the energy of the fields.
