I approach image-making with an understanding and appreciation that simple abstract forms are capable of evoking powerful emotions and complex associations. I am aware that imageries I create are my expressions, but what shapes are themselves and in their combinations are not reducible to my intentions. I am not interested in articulating or imposing any meaning through my visual language. I am, however, interested in conveying an ambient sensibility that underlies and encourages possible interpretations. 'Floating Things' is a series of prints grouped together by a common quality - buoyancy. 'Ukiyo' (floating world) is a term referring to the fleeting and ephemeral nature of the world. 'Buoy' suggests various states of maintained balance. 'Canopy' is a mirage, a temporal place of rest and safety. These abstract forms are visual and conceptual anchors for contemplating and participating in the flux of every day.
