A wooden wall-sculpture ‘built’ from drawings, using the imaginary logic of flatness to create 3-dimensions. By rotating the page while holding the stylus hand still, like an indexing mechanism, lines are carved at precise intervals. Conversely, shapes are ‘drawn’ in wood, delineating curves with the bandsaw and mark-making with the metal plane. The repertoire of line and shape learned from the page guides the chisel or saw, creating lines of metaphorical beams and rafters, erecting structures and scaffolding against gravity.
