I've been thinking a lot about the highly personal support structures we build internally and externally to help us be our most authentic and strongest selves. Systems that prioritize introspection, rest, growth, pleasure, joy, acceptance, community, nutrition, and exercise - everyone's system is different. I'm interested in navigating how to balance the non-performative, active support we give to causes and communities we believe in while making space for our internal work and progress. When asked to create a new series of work while meditating on resources I'm engaging with regarding racial justice and our collective role in building a better world, I wanted to offer a reminder to all of us (myself included) to prioritize and nourish our very own personal and unique support systems, however we can. Without introspection and self-service, we can't be our best selves when showing up to support others.
