The June rain was pouring outside my studio window when I painted this. As an artist, the creation of an organic moment - what Lee Krasner called "the Lettuce Leaf", has always fascinated me. How do you capture the feeling of nature in art? The precise tones of blue, pitched against warm yellows and pinks, with the negative space shining through, are my way of capturing the June rain.
