This work is part of a more recent body of research in which I photograph human-made objects abandoned in the vegetation—particularly in Serra da Cantareira, a forest bordering the city of São Paulo—and then use these images as references for my paintings. This research explores the boundaries between the city and nature, and the expansion of human presence into natural spaces. The cars, religious images, and other elements are records of this human passage. The work speaks about territory, conflict, and contrast.
