Portraying figures swimming and diving amongst large cubes of water, Eddie's surreal "BeachLand" envisions a complex built in 2061 housed in a 6-mile by 6-mile square structure that boasts 126 pools and 97 luxury villas where holidaymakers can enjoy 24 hours of sun and temperatures of 75 degrees Fahrenheit, 365 days a year.

I realized while doing this set of paintings that I had only really approached the series from one angle, a kind of 'god'-like point of view looking down at the pools. The time felt appropriate to change perspective. It means that with a few of the new paintings we are neither looking down or up at the pools but simply looking horizontally through them into distant emptiness.
About the Artist
Eddie K paints imaginary futuristic scenes of BeachLand, an artificially made indoor tropical environment located between the towns of Guildford and Woking in the United Kingdom.
