I’ve recently been interested in how the small decisions we make become subconscious self portraits. To explore this concept further, I’ve begun adding modularity to my pieces, such as making multiple paintings on paper that could be interchanged, creating objects that can be viewed from various angles, or making something made up of smaller components. I’m inviting the collector or viewer to participate in shaping the final form of the piece, creating a quiet exchange.

Through her figurative-yet-abstract and illustrative work, Jocelyn Tsaih strives to make sense of the human experience through her own perspective, utilizing a recurring amorphous figure meant to represent the universal soul.
