I feel it is essential to distinguish between what holds value and what merely appears valuable. Pyrite, commonly known as 'fool's gold', is a mineral that resembles gold but lacks its true value. In this collection of works the metallic paper alludes to all the shiny, easily attainable, and desirable things contrasted with elements picked from my memories of Latinx culture and traditions, its rich and diverse, flora, and fauna. The invaluable natural resources are used as raw materials for popular crafts by many generations.
