"Marathon" was titled as a play between the color ultramarine and ultramarathon. The blue used in this piece is heavily imbued with ultramarine and as I painted shape after shape, following the back and forth of pink carved lines, I felt my mind hit something akin to the runner's high that I can imagine an ultramarathoner reaches when they lock in a steadily pace past mile 30, 40, 50 and beyond.
