Through texture and pops of color, the "Littoral Series" explores the meeting of diverse terrains, perspectives, and visual elements. The circles of color act as openings or windows, offering glimpses tinted by our subjective interpretations and experiences. The series emerged from a three-year collaboration with Kondo Weaving Mill, a textile manufacturing company specializing in natural fibers, located in Aichi, Japan. Mino washi cotton is a unique textile, woven from traditional Japanese paper (washi) and cotton. My goal is to enhance, not overshadow, this fabric through my images. I want viewers to notice its nuanced textures, whimsical washi fringes, and translucency. This natural textile exudes quiet strength and sensitivity, and I aim for my images to reflect that balance—playful yet serene, gestural yet precise, with color amidst monochrome.
