The title 'La Doña' is a term used for a beautiful female or head of the house in Spanish, which has made me reflect on the strong women in my life, specifically my Abuela, who was a stunning woman in her youth and later life was a very strong figure who exuded authority at all times. I want this series to represent the many strong, beautiful, lively and colorful Chicana women in my life and family. The rounded nature of these shapes compared to the sharp edges of my geometric work reflect the female form in its many wonderful shapes and sizes.
