In her journal, 'Daybook', artist Anne Truitt wrote that when she was young, the mother of one of her friends showed her, by example, how to live a creative, curious life. “She was always adding. Her stance was active…to her that I owe my first inkling that an enterprising life was available as a personal possibility.” The active stance phrase made me think of mentors, especially women, in my life - including my mother - who demonstrated what contribution and inquisitive engagement looked like, and lit a path toward my exploration and future work.
