A simplified flower motif becomes the surface form and holds the narrative of hiding place and tending in this painting. Layering the mix of warm and cool dyes and having some areas more indistinguishable was a nice challenge to work with.
About the Artist
Primarily working in a textile-based practice, Padma Rajendran paints dye and resist onto silk in order to craft representational paintings that reflect on immigrant storytelling, womanhood, and the concept of home as a tended space.
