In this work, the largest shape in the canvas, what would in effect be the "body" of the ray, allows the materiality of the linen to come to the fore. I find its light, warm white color very beautiful, and like that something that we know is closely related to the linen material itself might also be made to read as a positive form or "figure" within the image depending on what surrounds it.
