I was thinking about backyard parties, swirling energy in a group of friends and family, people coming and going, sharing time and space with others. Voices, ideas and stories drift around. Unseen things happen all around us all the time. There are so many little details that we feel but don't see and this painting is trying to capture the unseen bits. This painting is made with layers of thin Kozo paper. It's hard to tell in a photograph but if you look in the top right corner you will see some blue line shapes and white/green line shapes that are similar. The blue line shape is underneath a layer of paper and the white/green is on top. The large brushstrokes that you see in that area (and throughout) are a combination of under and on top of a paper layer. In person there is a lot of depth to this painting as you can see through the layers of paint and paper to what's underneath.
