A poem written by Floris McLaren became a source of inspiration while working on this series. Her work speaks to me from a regional perspective as a British Columbia-based Canadian writer, and perhaps resonates more so through an increasingly developed world. Grass has been particularly captivating to me as a painting subject over the last couple of years. There's a grounding quality to it, or an innate connection through our feet and to the earth. The cyclical nature of regeneration and growth speaks to nature's quiet strength.
