This table is full, and so is your heart. You can hear the sound of friends gathering around to enjoy lunch together on a summer afternoon, the pop of wine corks, and the clatter of silverware being laid out for each guest. Fresh-cut lemons fill the air with a zesty quality, and you can taste the tartness. It reminds you of the countless lemonade stands you built with the neighborhood kids growing up. Your mom always said you used too much sugar - but isn’t that the point of kids’ lemonade? This piece is very special to me. The first tablescape I’ve ever painted, and the largest painting I’d attempted when I first began in December 2022. Many layers live here in this piece. An expression of my growth, of trial and error, and a desperation to expand — always to expand. After all, what good is being stuck in a box of your own making? I hope you find a sense of community, of exploration, and of the joy of simply existing where you are in this piece.
