My work draws upon art historical techniques and styles especially traditional eastern and central Asian paintings my narratives draw from contemporary concerns. They explore cultural, sexual and political identities, power dynamics, social and familial violence in short, the full spectrum of human behavior. They explore the role of the individual within society, as well as the fluidity of identities. My work, while not autobiographical, is informed by my experiences as a woman and immigrant with a complicated heritage, as well as my interests in histories and mythologies across various cultures.
About the Artist
