This print was inspired directly by printmaking. I was specifically playing with the idea of scratch-marks in plates signaling the cancellation of a print in a published edition. Additionally, I was also referring to the precise patterned cross-hatching happening in Giorgio Morandi’s etchings. The actions and imagery of these prints were about a static pause, whether that be in a thought or a moment. Morandi’s work has been a huge influence on my studio in the last several years.
